The streets of the Booker T. Washington area of Myrtle Beach are once again revving up for what is now known as its signature event, the Myrtle Beach Jazz Festival. This will be the second year of this festival. The first year brought in an estimated 3,500 to 4,000 attendees, locals as well as visitors, to the Grand Strand area.
The 2nd Annual Myrtle Beach Jazz Festival has expanded from a one-day event to a three-day event this year. The festival will take place on Friday, September 29th; Saturday, September 30th; and Sunday, October 1st, with the festivities scheduled to kick off at 6 p.m. on Friday, September 29th.
This year’s guests include T-Ray from New Orleans, a great violinist, Marcus Anderson, who was Prince’s saxophonist for many years, Mike Frest Band, CC & Company, Ashley Aluv, Horry County School Jazz, Special Blend, Don Colton, Charlie Snuggs, and a host of other local, regional, and national artists. We hope that everyone will join us for the 2nd Annual Myrtle Beach Jazz Festival as they fill the streets with the spirits of the greats who once adorned the Booker T. Washington area.
With support mounting for this event, Chairman of the Myrtle Beach Jazz Festival Mickey James is excited about the future of the Myrtle Beach Jazz Festival and its spotlight on the rich history and culture that is being rejuvenated in the area. Local residents are excited as they welcome the host of musicians, vendors, and students who will be participating in this year’s Festival. This is a free 3-day event, beer and wine garden will be available and is a family affordable fun thing to do in Myrtle Beach.
