South Carolina Ag + Art Tour Returns Next Weekend

agricultureThe South Carolina Ag + Art Tour is a free self-guided tour of over 80 farms and sites located in eleven counties. This year, the tour comes to our area on Saturday, June 3 and Sunday, June 4, 2017 to take a trip down a country road and explore the agriculture and artistic heritage of Horry County.

During the tour, you will have the opportunity to see first-hand where your food comes from, watch artists in action and purchase their works, dance to the melodies of bluegrass and folk songs, and learn more about rural life. The Tour is a special opportunity to see how your food comes to market and learn about the creative community in rural Horry County.

Highlights of the Horry County Tour include a free Bluegrass Concert featuring the Morris Brothers and a performance by the Long Bay Symphony Youth. Artisan demonstrations include; blacksmithing, woodcarving, soap making, Indigo dyeing and a studio tour and art show. Farm and farm-related sites include; Traviana Farms, Sassafras Nursery & Herbs, L.W. Paul Living History Farm, Horry County Museum and Conway Farmers Market. It’s a fun-filled weekend giving you a chance to talk with your local farmers, meet local artisans and enjoy the sights and sounds of rural Horry County.
