store at the X Sports Center
Update: The store is moving to a smaller air conditioned location at 206A George Biship Parkway on September 8, 2012. Same great clothes, same great cause!
What if there was a place to shop for stylish clothing at reasonable prices while your kids played sports? Even better, what if the money from the clothes went to charity? Would you shop there?

Gwen Woody
Good news – there is such a place called Loving Kindness Treasures. Gwen Woody, Proprietress finds bargains from designers close outs and donations of new clothing for her shop located at the X Sports Center in Myrtle Beach.

But this is not your average for profit boutique. Gwen Woody started it to help with her real passion – feeding the hungry. “God put it on my heart that something needed to be done with the children on the street,” said Woody. “I didn’t know what to do, but I started a mission for women and children.” Gwen started the Coastal Rescue Mission that collects food for the needy. Each month she is able to give out 200-400 cans of food due to the proceeds from the store and through individual donations.

Bonnie getting ready
Knowing that there was already a Zumba fundraiser for the Bennett Family on May 5th, Erin Wilde had the idea to expand the day and include a fashion show to bring awareness to Loving Kindness Treasures and Woody’s mission. “I knew about the Jada fundraiser (Bennett) and wanted to help Nicole (Coulliard, organizer of the fundraiser) and also help get the word out about what Gwen gives to the community,” explained Erin Wilde. So she gathered her models from the Erin Wilde Agency and showed off all the great buys in the shop.

There are many Myrtle Beach events and fundraisers for good causes; it is hard to imagine when we talk about hunger that we are not talking about a third world country but specifically the Myrtle Beach area. Coastal Rescue Mission is trying to make a dent by serving to educate and help feed the hungry. You can take canned goods or cash donations to 568 George Bishop Parkway in the X Sports Center or mail monetary donations to PO Box 8386, Myrtle Beach, SC 29578.
