On December 3rd from 11:00 am-3:00 pm, in conjunction with the Champion Autism Network (CAN) and the Chicora Rotary Club, The Myrtle Beach Sky Wheel and the LandShark Restaurant and Bar will host a sensory/autism friendly event for children with autism and their families. The music will be off, there will be no long lines and unlimited rides during the event.
The LandShark Restaurant will provide a complimentary buffet to attendees from 12:00 pm-3:00 pm.
“This is an important event for our families,” CAN founder and executive director, Becky Large states. “Many with autism have difficulty waiting in long lines, precluding many of our families from trying popular attractions like the Myrtle Beach Sky Wheel. Once on rides, many children with autism have tantrums or meltdowns when the ride is over. Having unlimited rides will provide the children with autism and their families a good amount of time to, not only enjoy themselves, but learn to transition and get off the ride without incident.”
About Champion Autism Network: CAN is a movement that aims to increase Autism Awareness and provide support to families effected by Autism. The mission is to reduce challenges and barriers to allow families with a child with Autism to have a “normal” family outing or experience, reducing sensory input and creating inviting environments for children with Autism, their parents and siblings, including having Surfside Beach SC named the First Autism Friendly Travel Destination anywhere.
The event is free for CAN card holders.
