SC Wellness Founders Win Prestegious Award for “Eartha” Book!

Congratulations to Conway residents Kristi and Dr. Daniel Falk! They have a shiny new Moonbeam Award to show off this fall for  “Eartha Gets Well, ” a children’s  brightly illustrated picture book promoting healthy choices for kids.  The award program recognizes excellence in children’s books and aims to support childhood literacy. Winners for the awards in 39 categories covering multiple subjects, styles, and age groups were announced this week.

This is the first book in what will be a series of adventures and lessons for the title character Eartha and her dog Cooper. It is also the first book for the Falk’s as well as their first award.   “The Falk’s deserve this award,” says Terri Leidich, president of BQB Publishing. “The story behind this book is such a positive one rooted deeply in their community service efforts. They’ve worked extremely hard to grow Eartha Gets Well into the educational tool it is today. They should be very proud of this book and its first award. We at BQB Publishing are extremely pleased with Eartha Gets Well and all of the effort the Falk’s put into promoting its positive message.”

Eartha Gets Well is a story about a little girl who never exercised, didn’t like vegetables, and was always sick. Eartha learns how to make herself, her family, and the Earth feel better! Throughout her adventure, she realizes that she can be healthy and happy by making a few simple changes. When she realizes how easy and fun it is, she wants to tell everybody!

We in the Grand Strand are all proud of the work the Falk’s have done to promote health and wellness through their organization, SC Wellness Council.
