Another reason to celebrate in Myrtle Beach: It’s National Soft Ice Cream Day!

Hey Myrtle Beach, we have another reason to enjoy one of our favorite treats – soft serve ice cream. Remember the days of getting a large cone for $.50 and another $.10 for jimmies?  Many of you probably don’t remember it that cheap.  We still remember the ice cream truck that used to come through our neighborhood at 4pm daily.

According to our friends at Punchbowl.com, soft ice cream has been around for about a century. Although its exact origins are unknown, we do know that the first references to soft ice cream appeared in the early 1900s. At that time, only a few types existed. Now, most ice cream shops serve a variety of fun flavors.

So grab the family, your pals or take a mini vacation and enjoy the sweet dessert with or without toppings.
