What’s Happening This Weekend: 2/24-2/26

Another weekend of music and oysters and a lot of outdoor fun! We added a link to some of the local clubs that we love to listen to great bands and dance!
The Horry County Museum Quilt Gala will be held Friday from 10 am–4 pm and Saturday from 10am-4pm at Ocean Lakes Family Campground Recreation Center in Myrtle Beach. Admission is $5.00 per person; children 12 and under are free. At the Gala many different types of quilts are displayed which represent a variety of techniques and skill levels. Categories include wearables, large quilts, medium quilts, small quilts, and a challenge.

First Annual Canvas and Cocktails Art Show and Reception on Friday from 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm.Horry County Disabilities and Special Needs (HCDSN) and William H. Miller Studios and Fine Art are showcasing the clients of HCDSN at their first annual “Canvas and Cocktails,” artist show and reception. There will be over 100 works of affordably priced art. During the reception, there will be a silent auction of luxury items paired with a work of art for attendees to bid on, an unveiling of a Mosaic of paintings created by the clients and a gallery talk at 6pm.

16th Annual KidzTime Festival on Saturday from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm at Broadway at the Beach. Fun for adults and kids with discounts and activities all around.

East Bay Deli Car Show! on Saturday from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm in the Bi-Lo Shopping Center Windy Hill. They are partnering with the Myrtle Beach Car Club hosting a classic/modern car show! Enjoy great food, beautiful cars and fun people including a Mermaid from The Character Company inside doing free face painting for the kids and adults! Bring your dogs too! We are pet friendly! Water will be available for the furry ones

Ripley’s Believe it or Not: Odditorium Sword Swallowers Day on Saturday from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm. Watch sword swallowers perform death-defying feats at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Odditoriums. They will again be home to a majority of the world’s sword swallowers as they demonstrate their death-defying skills to mark World Sword Swallower’s Day.

The Midtown Men at 7:00 Saturday pm at the Alabama Theatre, Barefoot Landing featuring four of the original stars from Broadway’s Jersey Boys. Surfrider Oyster Roast & Bloody Mary Contest on Sunday from 11:00 am – 6:00 pm at Surfrider at On the Half Shell with the best oysters, bloodies, vendors and music on the Strand for a great cause!
Local Theater

Priscilla Queen of the Desert Musical on Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm and Sunday at 3:00 pm at the Theatre of the Republic. This non stop on stage party features a hit parade of dance floor favorites including “It’s Raining Men, I Will Survive, Hot Stuff, Finally, Boogie Wonderland, Go West, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, and I Love The Nightlife, this wildly fresh and funny musical is a journey to the heart of FABULOUS!

Whose Beach Is It Anyway? Improv Comedy Show (All Ages) on Friday night and Whose Night Out Is It Anyway? Improv Comedy Show (18+) on Saturday night at Uptown Theatre at Myrtle Beach Mall. In this audience-interactive improv comedy show, they take suggestions from the audience about the funny things that pertain to Myrtle Beach and use those suggestions to create instant comedy right before your eyes! Similar to the television show “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” but about Myrtle Beach!
