In a world of spell check, thesauruses, plug-and-go online translators and Siri, there’s one invention that trumps them all. This Thursday, July 12, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans pay homage to everyone’s favorite (or least favorite) Smartphone feature…auto correct!
The Pelicans welcome the Winston-Salem Dash for ‘Ode to the Auto Correct Night’ at 7:05pm at TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark, Myrtle Beach. Auto correct is a feature on most Smartphones that detects misspellings, misplaced capitals and other grammatical miscues and fixes them on the fly; sometimes at the peril of unsuspecting texters.
Fans will have an opportunity to win tickets to future Pelicans games by posting to facebook or tweeting their best PG-rated auto correct blunders! How fun is that? Fans using twitter are encouraged to use the hashtag #AutoCorrectNight to ensure their submissions get noticed.
Fans will be treated to in-game anecdotes of texts gone horribly auto corrected. The night also features a battle to guess an auto corrected word’s actual intent, an auto correcting spelling bee and a contest to see who can finish a text the fastest without needing the modern day spell check.
How many of us have have auto corrects on our phones or even Facebook gone wrong? Come on out, enjoy some baseball and laugh at yourselves as you share your experiences. And best of all, you get to enjoy our own Pelicans!! Woo hoo!
