New Directions for Men, Women, and Families will hold their 2nd Annual Compassion Through Fashion fundraiser on Saturday, April 1 from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm in the Atlantic Ballroom at Marriott Myrtle Beach Resort at Grande Dunes, 8400 Costa Verde Dr., Myrtle Beach. Complimentary hors d’oeuvres will be served and a cash bar will be available. Ed Piotrowski, Chief Metereologist, WPDE will be the emcee.
The Compassion Through Fashion event is a fun fashion show that will feature inventive, original fashion ensembles from local designers using recycled materials. Some of the materials to be used include plastic spoons, straws, LED lights, rubber gloves, puzzle pieces, and ping pong balls. This event will raise funds to assist New Directions in obtaining the tools and necessities needed to move people out of poverty and homelessness.
New Directions is a non-profit 501c3 organization that operates four homeless shelters in Myrtle Beach. The group works to move people out of poverty and homelessness by helping them regain their financial footing, self-worth and self-confidence, and helping them to move into permanent housing and achieve self-sufficiency. “Compassion Through Fashion will raise funding to accelerate the New Directions ‘Back to Work, Back to Life’ program which is decreasing our homeless population, helping people regain confidence and independence, and improving our community,” said Tommy Starling, event creator and board member.
Tickets for the charity may be purchased by visiting the Compassion Through Fashion event site http://bit.ly/compassionthroughfashion2017 for $50. Visit www.helpnewdirections.org and like the event page on Facebook to follow this fun and original thing to do in Myrtle Beach.
