“Geriatric Monologues” Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm at the Murrells Inlet Community Theater., has already received acclaim as the featured play in the Atlantic Stage New Play competition. The author’s reflections are poignant and funny: “As we grow older, we start disappearing. Lots of people don’t see us anymore, rarely listen to our stories of who we were, when we were, and being an elder carries very little respect in our youth- oriented high tech world. I wanted more people to understand the process, what we go through, how we feel and that we are still alive and still have much to offer. Once I wore two different shoes. Nobody noticed.”
Sea Marks at Atlantic Stage at 7:30 pm on Friday and Saturday night. This is the touching story of a fisherman living on a remote Irish island who has fallen in love with a woman he’s glimpsed only once. Unschooled in letter writing, he tries his utmost to court by mail and after a year and a half succeeds in arranging a rendezvous. Will their love affair withstand the storm that arises from their being from different worlds?
