What’s Happening This Weekend: 5/19-5/21

All you need to remember for this weekend is the letter C: concerts, crab and comics! This is one of our favorite weekends when looking for family affordable things to do in the Myrtle Beach area.

It is also the second weekend of Myrtle Beach Bike Week so please be patient on the roads and welcome our guests.

XCON World 2017 on Friday from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Saturday from 11:00 pm – 8:00 pm and Sunday  from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. Cosplay contests, nerd dating game, medieval fighting demos, tabletop gaming demos and tournaments! Panels, workshops, fan meet-ups, and Adult and Kids cosplay contests. X Con is family friendly and kids under 12 are free!

3rd Annual Salt Air Jam for Cystic Fibrosis on Friday from 1:00 pm – 9:00 pm featuring headliner Edwin McCain at the North Myrtle Beach Sandhills Bank Amphitheater.  The gates will open at 1:00 PM and the concert starts at 2:00 pm.

Live strong fundraiser – fitness weekend on Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm at the Claire Chappin YMCA. The YMCA partnered with the Live Strong foundation to promote the importance of physical activity after a cancer diagnosis. This is a 12-week physical activity program designed to get survivors back on their feet.There will be different fitness programs to enjoy during the weekend, (zumba, MEN of zumba, body pump, body combat, body flow, CSWORX, Strong, Ripped, piyo, and many more). This is an open public event.

World Famous Blue Crab Festival on Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 am – 6:00 pm at the Little River Waterfront. Enjoy fresh, local seafood from a waterfront restaurant or get your favorite festival food fix. Enjoy scenic views, live entertainment, and shop for a unique souvenir or gift from a crafter. A children’s area will offer a variety of entertainment & activities. Bikers welcome.

Music at the L.W. Paul Living History Farm on Saturday from 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm. This month’s demonstration will focus on the mandolin. Learn how this instrument has evolved, how it is tuned, and some of the different styles of how it is played. Music will begin at 1:00 PM and end at 3:30 PM and is free and open to the public.

3rd Annual Pops in the Park on Saturday from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm at the Sandhills Bank Amphitheater at the North Myrtle Beach Park & Sports Complex.

Armed Forces Day Concert on Saturday from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm. In conjunction with the City of Myrtle Beach Military Appreciation Days, The Market Common presents a concert in Valor Park featuring Vocal Edition. They will be singing an hour-long set of patriotic songs, from 6 to 7 PM. Bring your chairs and blankets to enjoy the free concert in honor of our Armed Forces.
