What’s Happening This Weekend: 5/12-5/14

It’s Mother’s Day weekend so remember your Mom, Grandma or some other special female in your life.  Tomorrow starts the Myrtle Beach Bike Week Spring Rally so let’s welcome our guests and be safe on the roads. Barefoot Landing is ready with vendors.

If you are looking for other fun things to do in Myrtle Beach, we have a few suggestions listed below.

The Marshall Tucker Band w/ The Trevor Hewitt Band at House of Blues at 7:30 pm on Friday night.

Mayfest on Main from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm on Saturday.  Enjoy music and family entertainment on Main Street, NMB.

Museum Day Celebration at the Horry County Museum on Saturday from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. Celebrate the Horry County Museum and our local history! This special event day is free to the public and will feature various activities and stations: learn about Native Americans and local wildlife; visit our fossil and mineral table to have your fossils identified, learn steps to the state dance, the Shag, hear music in the auditorium, and much more! Be sure and check with the museum at 843-915-5320 for a complete schedule as some activities will only take place for a limited time.
 
2nd Annual Shrimp and Grits Cook-Off on Saturday from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm. The 2nd annual Shrimp and Grits Cook-off will be held on Saturday, May 13th from 12-2 pm at the Hammock Shops Village! Representatives of area restaurants will bring their rendition of the area’s signature dish to let the judges (and you!) taste. In addition to the delicious repast, there will be face painting and balloon art for the kids.

Local Theater

Evita  on Friday and Saturday night at 7:30 pm and Sunday at 3:00 pm at the Theatre of the Republic in Conway. Evita is based on the historical story of María Eva Duarte de Perón, a poor Argentinian girl who grows up to be the wife of the president of Argentina, worshipped by her people.

Whose Night Out Is It Anyway? Improv Comedy Show (18+) on Friday night and Menage-A-Prov Comedy Show (18+) (3 person live show) on Saturday night at 7:30 pm. In this audience-interactive improv comedy show we’ll take suggestions from the audience about life, relationships, work, Myrtle Beach and just about anything else you suggest and we’ll create an instant comedy show right before your eyes!
