What’s Happening This Weekend: 1/27-1/29

Shagging With the Stars at the Spanish Galleon on Friday night beginning at 7:00 pm with the stars performing at 9:30 pm for the Beth Mitchell Memorial Scholarship.

A Thing With Feathers  at Atlantic Stage on Friday and Saturday night at 7:30 pm and Sunday at 3:00 pm. Is hope enough to hold a family together?  Birdie Weaver struggles to prevent her daughter Mary from ruining her granddaughter Hope’s prom and graduation.  As pressures mount and secrets spill, the damage to the three women’s relationships may become too large for Birdie to fix and threatens to destroy her family.

Menage-A-Prov Improv Comedy Show (18+) on Friday night at 7:30 pm at Uptown Theatre in the Myrtle Beach Mall. In this three-person long form improv comedy, the players will take your suggestions about life and love and create a show about your triumphs and tribulations. It’s a three-some, so expect it to be a little naughty (never nasty).

Last Train to Nibroc  at Stage Left Theatre at Market Common, Friday and Saturday night at 8:00 pm and Sunday at 3:00 pm. In December 1940, an east-bound cross-country train carries the bodies of the great American writers Nathanael West and F. Scott Fitzgerald. Also on board is May, who shares her seat with a charming young flyer, Raleigh. Religious and bookish, May plans to be a missionary.

Myrtle Beach Gun Show at the Convention Center on Saturday  from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm and Sunday from 10;00 am to 5:00pm. The show provides firearm owners and enthusiasts with venues to purchase, trade and sell firearms, ammo and related merchandise.

Taste of the Marshwalk 2017    on Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm. Sample the chef’s favorite dishes from each of the eight award-winning restaurants from 11am to 4pm each day. Local artisans, crafters, live music, and kids activities will line the MarshWalk both days for a fun filled weekend in the Inlet. Small dish tasting will include the areas freshest local seafood as well as non-seafood items for the land lovers, available at $3-$5 per sample.

Ricky Mokel Comedy Show at the Alabama Theatre on Saturday night at 7:00 pm. Ricky Mokel, featured comedian of ONE The Show, will perform a hilarious comedy show as only he can!  Now’s your chance to see Grant Turner, as Ricky Mokel, in an award-winning performance that lets Ricky be Ricky.

Random Acts of Improv Comedy Show (18+)  on Saturday at the Uptown Theatre, Myrtle Beach Mall at 7:30pm. Craigslist serves as the inspiration for Act 1 with the audience choosing the listings the players will use to create a montage of fast paced scenes. Act 2 is The Harold, the iconic long form developed in Chicago by the godfather of improv comedy, Del Close. Based on a one word suggestion, the following 30 minutes will take the players and the audience on a roller coaster ride of characters, relationships, and situations before delivering everyone ‘safely’ back to the word that started it all.

The Wedding Showcase at the Convention Center on Sunday from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Meet vendors to help you plan the biggest day of your life.
