What’s Happening This Weekend: 4/1- 4/3


We hope the weather holds out for us because it is a weekend for crafts and planting. We have some fun, family affordable things to do in the Myrtle Beach area for you this weekend including plant shopping at your favorite garden, a step back in time farming demo and outside craft shows. Need to relax? Enjoy your favorite Broadway tunes and be entertained at a fundraiser for the cats.


Broadway Through The Ages  presented by Stage Left Theatre Company on Friday and Saturday from 8:00 pm – 9:30 pm.  If you are a fan of Broadway, then this is the show for you!!! WE have songs from West Side Story, The Secret Garden, Wicked, A Chorus Line, Rent and so many more. Tickets are ONLY $10pp and on sale and going fast. Plantacular Sale at Brookgreen Garden on Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 am – 4:00 pm. which will provide an opportunity to purchase high-quality, hard-to-find plants grown in Brookgreen’s greenhouses and selected nurseries. Brookgreen’s horticulture staff and volunteers will be on hand to offer advice in plant selection and other gardening tips.

Spring Planting Day at the L.W. Paul Living History Farm on Saturday from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm. The  Farm is gearing up the mule to set tobacco and plant corn for the summer. Join the Farm staff as they re-create old days on the family farm. Traditional farm tools and techniques are used to work and demonstrate. The public is invited to try their hand at setting tobacco with hand setters and cultivating crops. A variety of activities and crafts will be available for all ages. Demonstrations planned for the day include setting tobacco plants, planting a spring garden, wood working, making lye soap, grinding grits and meal, blacksmithing, cooking on a wood stove, butter making, and children’s games will be on hand. Food, snacks and gifts are available for purchase in the visitor’s center.

Birds of Prey at Huntington Beach State Park on Saturday from 10:00 am – 10:00 pm. Enjoy a day of bird-themed programs and events at South Carolina’s #1 birding destination!  All programs are free with paid admission, a very affordable family thing to do in Myrtle Beach. The park admission fee is $5/adult, $3/youth ages 6-15, and free for ages 5 and under.

Indie Market on Laurel on Saturday from 2:00 pm – 9:00 pm in Conway. This is part of the exciting resurgence of art and music experiences that are bringing visitors to Laurel Street in Downtown Conway. Visitors to the festival looking for things to do in the Myrtle Beach area enjoy 30+ artists and craftsmen, live music, art demonstrations and street performers. Beer and wine will be available for purchase from The Bottle Shop for those 21 and older. Besides artists selling their wares, there will be demonstrations include glass blowing, basket making and more! To make it more fun and an affordable fun place to bring the family, there will be music by Steady Hand String Band and Gravy Crockett.

Art Near the Oaks on Sunday from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm and 3:30 to 5:30 at the Myrtle Beach State Park. Come join us for an outdoor painting experience near the beautiful oak trees with a breath taking view of the ocean. We will be creating colorful acrylic octopus paintings. This is a guided painting session led by a local art teacher, so all levels are welcome. All proceeds go to Myrtle Beach State Park educational programs.

Are You a Fool for Cats?  on Sunday from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm at the Cooper House. This is a fund raiser and all the funds go to Donna’s Cat Sanctuary. There will be a dinner along with free wine and beer along with soda. Tickets are $35 and this includes all.  RSVP by April 1st. Entertainment provided by the “Blues Patrol”.
