Myrtle Beach Art Museum Celebrates Wearable Art

Love art?  Ever wish you can wear it? Well you can see how some artists combine fashion and art at the  Art to Wear: Head to Toe Runway Fashion Show on Thursday, October 25, from 7 to 9 p.m. at 2001 Nightclub celebrating the Franklin G. Burroughs-Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum’s 15th Anniversary.

This rocking event combines fashion with food, music and live entertainment! Carolina Improv’s Gina Trimarco Cligrow will serve as host/MC for the evening. Dance numbers will be performed by students from Abiding Village, a nonprofit arts academy. But the star of the show, of course, is fashion as models strut the runway wearing an array of about 20 original designs created by local artists and art students as part of a fashion design competition. Who would want to miss that!

A mix-and-mingle reception kicks off the event at 7:00 with the fashion show beginning at 7:30. 2001 Nightclub is located at 920 Lake Arrowhead Road.

Local artists were challenged to design an original work of art to wear that is “runway ready.” The competition was open to amateur, emerging, established and professional artists. A panel of local celebrity judges will rate the designs with prizes awarded in multiple categories.

Prime sponsorship for the event is Myrtle Beach Plastic Surgery Specialists, LLC. Hair and makeup styling for the models is provided by Jimbo Newton and Salon Edge. The event’s logo was designed by Calvin Blasingame of the Roundtable Art Group. Art works by Roundtable artists will be on display during the evening. Additional sponsorship opportunities are still available.

The event will help support The Art Museum, one of the most enduring non-profit cultural institutions in the Grand Strand area. Its exhibitions and programs are open year round, at no charge, to thousands of residents and visitors.

Tickets are $25 per person ($15 students) and cover light appetizers from area restaurants, the fashion show and there will be a cash bar. Tickets can be purchased at the Museum, 3100 S. Ocean Blvd.,  or by calling 843-238-2510.
