Thanks to one of our sister sites, Philly Happening, we found out that today is National Ice Cream Day. Although this is not just a Myrtle Beach happening, we love our ice cream as much as anyone in the US.
Did you know that in 1984, President Ronald Reagan designated July as National Ice Cream Month? He also declared that the third Sunday in July would be National Ice Cream Day. Whether you get it in a cup or in a cone, a waffle cone or in a sundae, today would be a good day to visit your local ice cream shop today to get some cold, delicious ice cream because it is hot in the Grand Strand. We have not heard of any ice cream events or freebies happening but ask your local shop, you never know!
We were also wondering if Myrtle Beach might like their yogurt more than their ice cream. We have not heard of any ice cream shops opening recently but it seems that there is a new yogurt store opening every month. Not that we are complaining because the ones we have tasted are amazing with equally wonderful toppings.
So when is National Yogurt Day? Maybe we should start a trend. Whatever your dessert choice, today is Sunday so enjoy!
