What is your best idea for making Myrtle Beach great? The Knight Foundation’s third annual Knight Cities Challenge solicits ideas that spark growth in 26 Knight Communities nationwide through innovative ideas that will lead to $5 million of grant funding. The challenge deadline is Thursday, Nov. 3, with winners announced in the spring of 2017.
So what’s the rules?
The challenge has two main guidelines: A submission may come from anywhere, but the project must take place in or benefit one or more of 26 Knight Communities, which includes Myrtle Beach.
And the idea should focus on one or more of three key drivers of city success:
- attracting and retaining talented people
- expanding economic prospects
- involving connection and civic engagement.
Who can apply?
The challenge is open to anyone from anywhere: neighbors, architects, activists, artists, city planners, entrepreneurs, students, educators, city officials, as well as governments and organizations.
Do you have a great idea for the Myrtle Beach area? Start planning it today! Submit your idea in 300 words or less no later than Nov. 3 at www.knightcities.org.
Our idea? It’s not original and not 300 words but two…food trucks!
