What to do during Christmas Break 2014

sttate parkChristmas break is here and the kids are home, so what should you do? Fear not, we have a list of fun, affordable family things to do in Myrtle Beach!



Outdoors if weather permits:

How about a trip to the state parks? Both area state parks are open every day of the year, including holidays, for walks, bicycling and nature and bird watching. Huntington Beach State Park, on U.S. 17 between Murrells Inlet and Litchfield Beach, across from Brookgreen Gardens and Myrtle Beach State Park, on U.S. 17 Business, one mile south of Farrow Parkway/South Ocean Boulevard, across from Seagate Village are great day trips for the whole family.

Brookgreen Gardens is open daily from 9:30 a.m.- 5 p.m. with the last admission sold 30-minutes before closing. Garden admission tickets are good for seven consecutive days. Brookgreen is closed on Christmas Day. Indoors at the Rainey Sculpture Pavilion,”Signs of the Season in Flora and Fauna” exhibit features natural materials and plants as ‘living art.’ It offers some new and fresh ideas of how to decorate for the holidays. These exhibits are free with garden admission.

Waccatee Zoo, 8400 Enterprise Avenue, over 50 acres of viewing area and over 100 species of animals and is open 7 days a week from 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Children love animals and the Waccatee Zoo is a very special and unique place for animal lovers of all ages.


movie theatre screenThe Children’s Museum of South Carolina (CMSC) is a fun place for the young ones to come learn while you play.

Movies: check out what’s playing at Carmike Cinema at Broadway at the Beach , Coastal Grand Mall and Myrtle Beach Mall or Grand 14 at Market Common.

Ice at the Beach – If you haven’t been there yet, check out the ice rink at the Myrtle Beach Mall. $10.00 for 2 hours of skating (price includes ice skates).

Fun Warehouse Myrtle Beach – The Fun Warehouse is an all inclusive facility for family entertainment that features a state of the art Arcade, Laser Tag, Soft Play, Inflatables, Six Birthday Party Rooms, Roller Skating, Rollerball Mini-Bowling, Full Snack Bar, Lounge, WiFi & More! Ripley’s Aquarium – Check out the festival of trees until December 31. Stroll around enjoying the sharks swimming with sea life, play with the sting rays and watch a mermaid.

Hollywood Wax Museum – The museum houses tons of uncanny replicas, lending themselves to fun photo opportunities for guests. The two-story Museum will bring Myrtle Beach tourists and locals into the world of Hollywood Stars and allow visitors to get close to some of the most famous people in show business.
