Topics Trivia

“What is Topics Trivia?”

It’s a game that lets players show what they know.  A team consists of 1 to 6 players. Teams are asked questions from different topics, such as literature, geography, sports, television, history, movies, etc.  After a question is asked, the teams choose and submit an answer before the allotted time period ends. The correct answer scores points. The team with the most points at the end of the game is the winner and prize(s) will be awarded.  Enter your name once each month for the Grand Prize Drawing in December.   RSVP’s are appreciated, not required.  Join us and have some fun!

Atalaya Fall Festival and Haunted Castle at Huntington Beach State Park
Oct 27 @ 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Join us Friday October 27th and Saturday October 28th for the Atalaya Fall Festival and Haunted Castle at Huntington Beach State Park.  The event will start at 6:00 pm and run until 9:00 pm.  The Atalaya “castle” will be the setting for an evening of fright-fully fun family entertainment! Enjoy 2 separate haunted house attractions: Little Scare, a not-too-scary maze of creepy rooms for the younger children, and Big Scare, a Haunted Castle for the brave at heart. There will also be carnival games, unique photo booth opportunities, a balloon artist and “make and take” arts and crafts stations in the courtyard. Everyone will enjoy vintage spooky cartoons outdoors on the big screen, a “toast your own marshmallow” fire pit, local ghost stories around the bonfire, and more! Chick-fil-A, Colette’s Popcorn, and Anything Froz and Coffee Shop will have food and drinks available for purchase.

Entrance to both of the haunted houses, children’s crafts, carnival games, and marshmallows are all included in the event admission. Admission to this event is $10 for adults; $7 for children 6-15; and children 5 and under are free. The regular park and Atalaya admissions will be waived during the festival.

This event offers activities to appeal to every age group; however, please note that some of the special effects used in the haunted castle may be too intense for younger children. This event goes on, rain or shine!

Halloween Car Show 2017

Registration at 9:00AM for participants. Trophies awarded at 3pm. Registrants , please bring candy for the kids to “Trunk or Treat.” Visitors, come to our free car show featuring classic and modern cars, have your children trick-or-treat. Donations will be accepted by the American Red Cross for disaster relief efforts. Grande Dunes Properties will double the donations by matching the final proceeds collected at the event.

Carolina Forest Rotary Krispy Kreme Dash 5K
Nov 4 @ 8:00 am – 11:00 am

Race Date: November 4, 2017
Welcome to the 1st Annual Carolina Forest Rotary Krispy Kreme Dash!
Participants will choose the Competitor or Casual Runner/Walker Option!
All race participants run/walk 1.5 miles, receive a dozen doughnuts, and run/walk 1.5 miles to complete the 5K.
Competitor Participants must consume all 12 doughnuts at the halfway point but Casual Participants can save their doughnuts for later.
Each registered participant receives a dozen doughnuts and a participant t-shirt. T-shirts guaranteed if registered prior to October 23, 2017. Competitor “I Did It” shirts will be available for purchase following the event.
Competitor participants must complete the 5K and eat the dozen doughnuts in under 1 hour to be eligible for awards.
Race course closes at 9:30am.
This is a chip timed event and a USATF certified race course.

This event honors those who served this country by supporting the Wreaths Across America campaign through The Blue Star Mothers of Coastal Carolina (BSMCC)

All proceeds go directly to Wreaths Across America to purchase wreaths for the graves at the National Cemetery in Florence, SC.  The wreath ceremony is on December 16, at 12 noon.  Visit The Blue Star Mothers of Coastal Carolina website for more information.

Active Adult Series: Horry County in WWII

The monthly Active Adult Series at the Horry County Museum will continue on November 21st at 1:00 PM. Join us to learn about Horry County’s involvement in the Second World War, including the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base, Bombing Range, and POW Camp. The Active Adult Series is held the third Tuesday of each month and is perfect for new residents to the area, or lifetime locals who want to learn more about the place that they call home.

The program will be held at the Horry County Museum, located at 805 Main Street, Conway SC. This series is free and open to the public, seating will be available.
