Palmetto Campout at Huntington Beach State Park
Oct 14 all-day

Never been tent camping? Stay overnight with a park ranger who will help you set-up your tent and teach you cooking and camping secrets! The Palmetto Campout is for families who are beginning campers and is an adventure-filled weekend for the entire family. It is also a great way to get your children connected with nature!

Families will camp in a secluded area of Huntington Beach State Park under a canopy of ancient live oak trees, minutes away from the beach.  A set of loaner tents and foam sleeping pads are available to borrow if you do not have your own camping equipment.  Your ranger guides will teach you how to build a campfire, rig a crabbing line, pull a seine net, paddle a kayak, and much more! Kayaks, safety equipment and instruction provided courtesy of Black River Outdoors.

This unique camping experience is $30/adults and $20/children ages 6-15; and includes all activities. Participants will be provided with a list of food items to bring with them to be prepared over the campfire at their campsite. The program will begin at 10 am Saturday morning and conclude after lunch on Sunday.

Atalaya Fall Festival and Haunted Castle at Huntington Beach State Park
Oct 27 @ 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Join us Friday October 27th and Saturday October 28th for the Atalaya Fall Festival and Haunted Castle at Huntington Beach State Park.  The event will start at 6:00 pm and run until 9:00 pm.  The Atalaya “castle” will be the setting for an evening of fright-fully fun family entertainment! Enjoy 2 separate haunted house attractions: Little Scare, a not-too-scary maze of creepy rooms for the younger children, and Big Scare, a Haunted Castle for the brave at heart. There will also be carnival games, unique photo booth opportunities, a balloon artist and “make and take” arts and crafts stations in the courtyard. Everyone will enjoy vintage spooky cartoons outdoors on the big screen, a “toast your own marshmallow” fire pit, local ghost stories around the bonfire, and more! Chick-fil-A, Colette’s Popcorn, and Anything Froz and Coffee Shop will have food and drinks available for purchase.

Entrance to both of the haunted houses, children’s crafts, carnival games, and marshmallows are all included in the event admission. Admission to this event is $10 for adults; $7 for children 6-15; and children 5 and under are free. The regular park and Atalaya admissions will be waived during the festival.

This event offers activities to appeal to every age group; however, please note that some of the special effects used in the haunted castle may be too intense for younger children. This event goes on, rain or shine!
