Black Dog Running Company Group Run
May 1 @ 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Mondays will now be Rundays at Black Dog Running Company. Starting on Monday November 7th we will be hosting an additional Group Run from the shop at 6pm. This will have more of a workout direction, versus our ever popular Thursday Social Runs.
It is unlike any other group run on the Strand, featuring a combination of strength and run. We will do a varied weekly workout of 15 minutes of stretching/body weight exercises (think squats, lunges, planks, pushups, etc) and follow with a 45 minute run to help build strength and keep you training consistently. It’s free, fun and a great way to kick off your week.

Waccamaw Arts & Crafts Guild 20th Annual Juried Art Exhibition
May 2 @ 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm

The Art Museum was conceived by a small but visionary group of local art enthusiasts, among them a group of artists formed in the late 1960s called the Waccamaw Arts & Crafts Guild. Beginning in the spring of 1969, a pattern of art exhibitions was established that continues today. To honor the integral role that the Guild played in the Museum’s establishment, the Museum proudly hosts the Gilds’s annual spring juried art exhibition, which is now in its 20th year. A diverse array of media, including ceramics, collage, drawings, graphics, mixed media works in both two and three-dimension, paintings, photography, sculpture, textiles and wood carving, all completed by local artists within the past two years, will be exhibited. This year’s judge is professional artist Linda Daly Baker of Charleston, SC. Her watercolors capture the transformative effects of light and its ability to abstract the subject matter upon which it is cast. Baker teaches workshops internationally and is a signature member of a number of guilds, including the American Watercolor Society, the International Society of Experimental Artists, the national Watercolor Society and the Transparent Watercolor Society of America. Learn more at LindaDalyBaker.com.

This exhibition will be on display May 2 – June 1, 2017

Human Trafficking Movie “Sold” Coming to MB
May 3 @ 6:00 pm – 8:15 pm
human traffickingGFWC North Myrtle Beach Woman’s Club will host a presentation of the movie “Sold” at the Carmike 12 Theatre (10177 North Kings Hwy., Myrtle Beach, S.C.) on Wednesday, May 3rd at 6:30 PM to 8:15 PM.
The club is bringing the movie to our area to bring awareness to our communities about human trafficking.
The public is invited to attend this exclusive, one-night only showing of this insightful and chilling movie, based on the international bestselling novel by Patricia McCormick, and inspired by true accounts.
This is the story of a young girl, who journeys from a rural village in Nepal to a gritty brothel-prison in India. The film illustrates the brutality of child trafficking, which affects millions of children around the globe every year.
Globally the average age of a trafficked girl is thirteen. GFWC-NMBWC hopes this will be a call to action and educate viewers to address the crime locally and nationally.
Open to the public. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased online at https://www.tugg.com/events/sold-nltf
If you would like more information or have questions, please contact the “Sold” project chairperson at (815) 322-6623.
