Atlantic Stage Production of God of Carnage

Atlantic Stage and Coastal Carolina University have joined forces to bring   professional non-profit theatre to the Myrtle Beach area. It is celebrating its fifth season by revisiting the work of respected playwright Yasmina Reza in God of Carnage which runs September 6 – 23 at The 79th Avenue Theatre in Myrtle Beach.

God of Carnage as translated by Christopher Hampton was the winner of a 2009 Tony Award. The play is about two pairs of parents, one of whose child has hurt the other at a public park, who meet to discuss the matter in a civilized manner. This is something many of us with children have experienced, however, as the evening goes on, the parents become increasingly childish, resulting in the evening devolving into chaos. This play is recommended for mature audiences.

Directed by Artistic Director Thom Penn, the ensemble will be lead by company members Steve Earnest, Kris Rau McIntyre, Mindy Blackburn Penn and Jon Hayden, a visiting Artist from Atlanta, GA. The play will run Thursday to Saturday at 7:30 and Sunday matinee at 3:00 for three weeks. Ticket prices will range from $27.50 – $17.50.

Tickets can be purchased productions by visiting Atlantic Stage or by calling the box office at 877-287-8587.
