2012 Carolina Beach Music Awards

It’s that time again when members of the Carolina Beach Music Awards vote for their favorite performers. Nomination ballots just came out culminating in the big show at the Alabama Theatre, Barefoot Landing on November 11th.  The only difference is that this year – I get to vote!

Yes, last year I was invited as a member of the press and hadn’t known too many of the bands.  I met many of them backstage at the Awards and earlier that day at the Band Fair (more on that later).  You often hear about performers egos, but not this group.  They are too eager to share their stories and for any press that you offer to them.

Now having been in the Myrtle Beach area for a little over a year, I decided to join the CBMA, and as an Academy member, I get a say in who is the best in each category.  Am I up for the challenge? You bet! I have not heard them all but have spent many hours in North Myrtle Beach listening to many.

Now for the band fair. It is held at the OD Resort Ballroom from 9am to 12pm on Sunday the 11th and is open to the public. This is your chance to meet the bands up close and personal and purchase their CD’s, t-shirts, etc.

So grab a friend or come alone to one or all of the events.  You won’t be alone for long.  This was the friendliest group I have ever met.
